How to Make a Mac OS Wallpaper
October 13th, 2007
This tutorial i found on Dr. Photoshop while surfing on the net and think good enough to share with you to create a Mac OS Wallpaper yourself. Follow these steps to create a Mac OS wallpaper or download Video.
Procedure to create a Mac OS wallpaper:
1. Create a new document that is double the size fo your intended project. In this examle it is 5000 pixels x 5000 pixels. Use #0A5FAF as a fill for the backgound.
2. Create a new layer.
3. Expand the window making a large margin outside the document canvas.
4. Using the pen tool, make a curve that starts outside the document and ends outside of it as well.
5. Right click or Ctrl Click on the pen path and fill the path with white or #FFFFFF.
6. Apply a stroke effect of about 1 to 5 px depending on the size of the document.
7. Adjuts the fill to about 10-30%
8. Repeat Steps 2-7 a couple of times.
9. Duplicate each layer for safety measure. Just hide the original so no changes will take effect on it. Also, so you won’t have to re-do every layer in case you make a mistake.
10. Apply a mask to the newly rasterized layer (you can find the button in the bottom of the layer palette). Take the gradient tool and set it to black to white and blending mode darken. On the layer mask, apply gradients by clicking and dragging. By setting the blending mode to darken, you can apply the gradient multiple times and it will not undo the region masked region created on the gradient you dragged out just before. This would not be true if it were normal. You want to leave the center and the middle of the stroke mostly intact and hide the ends and sections not close the the line.

When Windows denies you to eject USB Drive
August 5th, 2007
It sometime happens When you click on the “Safely Remove Hardware” icon in the system tray to remove hardware, you may receive an error message ” can not remove it successfully “or “The device cannot be stopped right now. Try stopping the device again later “. The only option left is to shutdown the computer and eject the USB drive and then restart the system again but this process is lengthy. So why windows can’t eject the USB drive on some ocassions and shows an error message. Actually this occur due to open handles with any files in the USB Mass Storage Device are in use by another program which prevent the windows to eject the USB drive. There are two methods to eject the USB from Windows safely.
First Method:
Process Explorer: Process Explorer (Windows Vista compatible) is an advanced process management utility that picks up where Task Manager leaves off. It will show you detailed information about a process including its icon, command-line, full image path, memory statistics, user account, security attributes, and more. When you zoom in on a particular process you can list the DLLs it has loaded or the operating system resource handles it has open. A search capability enables you to track down a process that has a resource opened, such as a file, directory or Registry key, or to view the list of processes that have a DLL loaded.
The unique capabilities of Process Explorer make it useful for tracking down DLL-version problems or handle leaks, and provide insight into the way Windows and applications work.

1 Download Process Explorer. Size: 1.5 MB
2 Click Find, Find Handle or DLL in the tool menu.
• Type the drive letter of the USB device in the Handle or DLL substring textbox, and press Search Button.
• Find the process and its PID in the following box.
• In system process tree view, find the process according to the Find Handle or DLL dialog box.
• Press Ctrl + H to show Handles in Lower Pane View.
• Find the File according with the drive letter , and right click it, choose Close Handle.
Second Method:
Unlocker: Unlocker (freeware/Windows Vista compatible) is a very useful utility which unlock the file or folder which is being used by the another progam(s). Here is some examples:

Cannot delete file: Access is denied
There has been a sharing violation.
The source or destination file may be in use.
The file is in use by another program or user.
Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.

Procedure to eject USB through Unlocker:
1. Simply right click the USB drive icon and select Unlocker.
2. If the folder or file is locked, a window listing of lockers will appear.
3. Simply click Unlock All and you are done. Download Unlocker

Beware Credit Card fraudsters around
August 5th, 2007

The device is used mostly at retail outlets: Bars, Restaurants, shopping complexes and petrol stations. It has been reported that sometimes the employees are involved in the racket of cloning the cards and duping the original owner.
The person who stole the information of the card using the skimmer may use the information on his own or sell the information to a bigger racket. This bigger racket may even use this information to make cards and use in the foreign country. A single skimmer can copy up to 12000 cards information.
How to safe guard yourself from Credit Card related thefts?
Credit card, debit card and related fraud are a multi million dollar industry throughout the world. It’s been reported that fraudsters in UK itself netted 504.80m pounds in 2006 through this crime.
2. Always checks the receipts and bank statements after each transaction made by you. If possible verify by calling up the credit card help line for the recent transaction made.
3. Subscribe to the Alert facility, which comes for free. This will enable you to know the transaction and its amount made from your credit card whenever your card is swiped for any transaction.
4. Interestingly, a credit card receipt is enough to make a replica of the card you own. In US, customers are advised to shred the receipts after verification.
5. Keep changing the PIN number of the card. And never write it on any paper as anyone can access the papers and take advantage. Also don’t use date of birth, anniversary as these can be easily guessed.
6. Don’t use same PIN for all the cards you own.
That’s not enough, in case of ATM’s :
2. If you see a strange object/gadget near the card slot, don’t insert your card. Keep an eye out for the miniature camera (these records your PIN).
