Apple Inc. a well recognized and heard name for eye-catching iPod’s and iPhone gadgets in the recent past has now returned to its heritage –Computers- with a new line of consumer machines and software which aims at winning over more users of Windows-based PCs.
The new iMacs comes with a brushed-aluminum shell and a glass screen, replacing the mostly plastic casting that it used on earlier iMacs. The Apple products which include a new spreadsheet program called numbers that will compete with Microsoft’s Excel program are part of year’s long campaign by apple to convert windows users through spiffy products and high-profile television commercials.

Security Patch for Apple iPhone Released

The software update which the Apple has released on Tuesday, 31st July 2007 has some security patches which plugs the bugs and security issues. The security patch not only plugs the loop holes but also closes the doors which could have allowed hackers to take control of the multimedia cellphone to spread viruses, spam or steal steal data if its owner was to visit a doctored Website or Internet Wi-Fi hotspot.
Till now no such misuse have been reported of loop holes but still those not upgraded cell phones connected to infected computers are vulnerable to viruses and threats.
The much hyped iphone - - a combination of cell phone and iPod player and wireless Web gadget – quickly became a popular research target after its launch on June 29. Its first ever software updte came just two days before analysis at Independent Security Evaluators were set to discuss the iPhone’s hijacking hole at a hackers convention in Las Vegas - TOI.
This new outstanding gadget has the ability to receive the updates of softwares and other bug fixes through iTunes whenever necessary.
On the Contrary, The iPhone’s battery has been targeted for consumer complaints.
“Chicago attorney Larry Drury filed a class-action law suit last week against Apple and the iPhone’s exclusive US carrier, AT&T, alleging the companies failed to disclose the associated replacement costs and limited life of the gadget’s battery.
The public is entitled to know what they’re getting for the money that they have spent – Durry said in a phone interview on Wednesday.
The law suit, which names Chicage resident Jose as the plaintiff, was filed in the circuit court of cook county in Illionis.
The New York Consumer Protection Board has also sent a letter to apple, complaining that the battery replacement costs are too expensive. – TOI.

Run Windows on Intel Powered Macs using Apple Boot Camp

Apple released a Boot Camp beta version that let you installl and run Windows Vista on Intel Powered Macs. Boot camp will be the integral part of future Mac OS X Leopard. Boot Camp provides drivers for Windows to support the Mac keyboard and various hardware and peripherals from within Windows. Apple said that Boot Camp runs Windows completely natively.
Once you’ve completed Boot Camp, simply hold down the “alt” at startup to choose between Mac OS X and Windows. After starting up, your Mac runs Windows natively just like a PC. Simply restart to come back to Mac OS X.
Requirement for running Windows on Intel Powered Mac :
Mac OS X Tiger v10.4.6 or later
The latest firmware updates
10GB free hard disk space
An Intel Powered Mac
A blank recordable CD or DVD
A printer for the instructions (You’ll want to print them before installing Windows, really.)
A bona fide full version of Microsoft Windows: XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 2, WIndows Vista Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, or Ultimate. (No upgrade or multi-disc versions)
